Parfois, le mauvais côté de la loi est là où il faut être.

Quand les habitants d'un village du Middle West apprennent qu'un magnat du chemin de fer corrompu a mis la main sur leurs titres de propriété à leur insu, un groupe de jeunes propriétaires de ranch unissent leurs forces pour récupérer ce qui leur revient. Alors qu'ils poursuivent leur vendetta, ces jeunes deviendront la cible de la plus grosse chasse à l'homme relatée dans l'histoire de l'Ouest. Et au fur et à mesure que grandit leur réputation se développe la légende de leur chef, un jeune hors-la-loi du nom de Jesse James.
